More details

The 15.6" Republic of Gamers Zephyrus GX501VI Laptop from Asus is a Max-Q designed laptop, which aims to be thin, fast, and quiet without sacrificing gaming performance. Specs-wise, it's powered by a 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7-7700HQ quad-core processor and 16GB of 2400 MHz DDR4 RAM. Even though it only measures 0.7 inches thin, the Zephyrus still manages to fit in an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 graphics card with 8GB of GDDR5X VRAM for high-end gaming performance. Thanks to its Active Aerodynamic System (AAS), a portion of the bottom opens when the display is lifted to increase the amount of space for air circulation, letting your game for hours without throttling.

For storage, it has a 512GB M.2 NVMe solid-state drive for quick booting and loading applications. Should you need more space, you can connect external storage solutions using its multiple USB ports. The 15.6" display has a 1920 x 1080 resolution and provides you with wide viewing angles and 100% sRGB gamut cover for immersive and vivid colors. More importantly, it features a 120 Hz refresh rate and NVIDIA G-Sync technology to deliver a more fluid gaming experience without ghosting, tearing, and stutter. Other integrated features include 802.11ac dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, an HD webcam, and a mic/headphone jack. The operating system installed is Windows 10 Pro (64-Bit).

Max-Q Design

Laptops sporting the Max-Q design are crafted to be thin, fast, and quiet; however, they're still packed with high-end hardware needed for gaming. The ROG Zephyrus measures 0.7 inches tall and weighs 4.9 pounds, but it has an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 graphics card for powerful on-the-go gaming performance.

Play it Cool & Breathe Deeply

To adhere to the Max-Q design, the ROG Zephyrus features Active Aerodynamic System (AAS), which combines intelligent design with innovative technologies for an ultra-slim laptop that runs cool and quiet without sacrificing performance. By lifting the display, a portion of the bottom opens up to increase the amount of space for air circulation. Combined with AeroAccelerator technology, which incorporates revamped fan and heatsink designs, this gap improves airflow and reduces temperatures so you can game for hours without any crashes or throttling.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 10-Series Graphics Cards

NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 10-series graphics cards can deliver up to a 40% increase in performance over the previous generation. Not only are they powerful, they can deliver similar performance to their desktop counterparts with a slight performance difference. This changes mobile gaming, allowing you to max out your game's visuals settings so you can enjoy it at its best. Furthermore, 10-series graphics cards are VR ready so plug in your favorite headset for a new computing experience.

Asus Aura RGB Backlit Keyboard

The ROG Zephyrus' keyboard is positioned a bit lower than you're used to on a laptop to allow for better cooling of its internal components. It also features Asus Aura RGB backlighting, which lets you customize not only the aesthetics of the keyboard, but also functions such as macros. Furthermore, it has anti-ghosting and 30-key rollover for instant and accurate input at up to 30 keys simultaneously.

120 Hz G-Sync Display

NVIDIA G-Sync technology syncs the display's refresh rate with the graphics card's frame rate output to reduce screen tearing and ghosting. Combined with a 120 Hz refresh rate, which helps to eliminate stuttering and jitters, you'll be able to enjoy smooth gameplay and react instantly to your game. The display also supports wide viewing angles and 100% sRGB gamut coverage for vivid colors.

Windows 10 Pro

Start Menu

After its hiatus in Windows 8, the Start Menu has returned. Utilizing a combination of the traditional menu system and Windows 8's Live Tiles, the improved Start Menu gives you more information at a glance, showing notification information alongside your applications and other pinned items.

Cortana

Microsoft's digital personal assistant, Cortana, can answer your questions with information gleaned from both your device and the Internet at large. You can type or even talk with her, if your system has a microphone. Using her Laptop, Cortana keeps track of your needs and wants, and she learns over time to improve her information-gathering skills.

Microsoft Edge

After nearly 20 years, Microsoft has finally replaced its Internet Explorer web browser. With Microsoft Edge, users can write directly on web pages and share notes with friends and colleagues. It also improves the online reading experience by adding a distraction-free mode and read-it-later functionality. Edge also has built-in Cortana integration; you can have her help you find a restaurant, make a reservation, and pull up directions without leaving your browser.

Windows Store

For Windows 10, Microsoft has unified the Windows Store. Now, apps for PCs, tablets, and phones will all be accessible from one place. And with support for Universal Apps, one version of an app can work across all your compatible devices automatically.

Windows Continuum

Windows 10 was designed for a variety of screen sizes and input styles, and with its Continuum feature, it automatically adapts to fit your needs. A Windows 10 tablet on its own requires a touch-centric approach, but attaching a mouse and keyboard will shift everything to a more traditional interface. You can even attach an external monitor to your Windows 10 phone for a near-desktop experience. But it's not just the operating system; Windows Universal Apps take advantage of Continuum as well.

Xbox on Windows 10

Gaming is a big focus of Windows 10. Xbox integration allows for PC players to match up against Xbox One players on supported games, and if you have an Xbox One, you can even stream compatible titles to your PC. Native support for recording with the new Game DVR feature makes it easy to capture and share your gameplay. The new DirectX12 takes better advantage of multi-core processors, giving games a performance boost, even on older hardware. Windows 10 also features native support for virtual reality headsets, such as the Oculus Rift.

Windows 10 Pro

The Pro version of Windows 10 includes all of the features of Windows 10 Home plus many designed specifically for businesses users, including Hyper-V virtualization, BitLocker disk encryption, and remote desktop access. Devices will also be able to join domains and the Azure Active Directory, and they can even access a specialized version of the Windows Store featuring custom, company-specific applications.

Good choice with minor problems

This laptop is a great mix for Gamers and mobility. 15.6 is a good size to play games and still keep the laptop to a more mobile and light weight. Boots is about 5 sec from power off. Love the keypad / mouse pad on the right side. I always have problem when they are between the keyboard and myself. I was thinking the keyboard being all the way to the end of the laptop might be hard to use. But it is so thin I can rest my hands on the table and they also give you a nice pad to rest your hands on. Nice unexpected surprise. Fast, Light, Keyboard feels great. I got this one mostly for my wife and she loves it.
